Lisa Stroyan, founder of Empathic Parenting, is a parenting facilitator, speaker, writer, and coach. Through workshops, talks, and phone coaching, she makes a difference in families’ lives by empowering parents across the country to create positive, respectful relationships with their children. Lisa’s down-to-earth style and playful approach is based on training and experience in programs such as Positive Discipline, Life Coaching, Non-Violent Communication, and Collaborative Problem Solving for Children with Behavioral Challenges. Her respectful philosophy draws a wide variety of parents, from those who are struggling with discipline issues or special challenges to those who simply wish to improve their relationships and effectiveness. After graduating with a B.A. from U.C. Berkeley, Lisa spent ten years in the corporate world before leaving to focus on parenting and on her career. Lisa has been a keynote speaker, and her writing has been published internationally. She volunteers locally and online, and provides an extensive website with articles, links, and resources for parents. Lisa lives in Fort Collins, CO, with her husband and 11 year old son. Amy Makice, founder of Creative Family Resources, is a parent educator and psychotherapist based in Bloomington, Indiana. Her training includes Relational-Cultural Therapy, Positive Discipline and H. Stephen Glenn's Developing Capable Young People. She specializes in women's issues and parenting challenges. She offers individual therapy and parent support as well as workshops for parents and caregivers. Her presentations and workshops incorporate current research on children's development as well as concrete techniques for bringing families together. Amy has a professional history serving the mental health needs of individuals and families. She has been a licensed clinical social worker since 1997. In graduate school, her research on women in recovery and Relational-Cultural Therapy was awarded a grant by the Newcomb College Center for Research on Women as well as the Lettie Page Whitehead Foundation Scholarship. Amy has two sons. Her volunteer work includes advocacy for individuals with severe mental illness and serving on the board of her son's co-op nursery school. |
